Can I trust skybookings?

Skybookings was first established in 2016 as an RSVP management platform.  We served large clients, including Gauteng Cricket, Joburg Fashion Week, Clicks Group, and many others.

We closed the business during Covid and re-openned it in 2024 after rebuilding our platform from scratch at a significant investment—a sign of long-term commitment.

We deeply believe the world is better when people come together in the spirit of Ubuntu.  So, our mission is to make this possible for as many independent event planners as possible.

Skybookings is owned 100% by The Sindane Family Trust.  It was founded and developed by Vusi Sindane, an entrepreneur, software engineer with 24 years experience, husband of 19 years and dad to six children. Above all, skybookings is truly South African.

Ticket sales are paid to clients every Wednesday.  The cut off day for the week is on Mondays 12:00, at which point we calculate and schedule the payout.  Adhoc payouts are also possible upon request.  Please note, however, we reserve the right to decline adhoc payouts should we suspect a risk to patrons.

Payments are made to the client’s South African bank account from First National Bank as provided in the bank confirmation letter when signing up.  As a result of inter-bank transfer delays, payments procesed on Wedndays may reflect on Thursdays.

All ticket sales are processed in South African Rands (ZAR).  Where a patron is buying a ticket from a foreign country, skybookings will do the currency conversion automatically.  Therefore, tickets can be purchased from anywhere in the world with the payment methods provided, but they are ultimately processed in ZAR.

Through Paystack, skybookings offers payments via Credit Card, Debit Card, Cheque Card, Electronic Bank Transfer (EFT), and Snapscan.  Please note that no card or banking information is shared with skybookings.  All payment details are processed directly by Paystack, which passes back tokens (i.e. signals of transaction success of failure).

Our support details are clearly stated on multiple occasions on the booking page.  Should a patron struggle to secure their spot, they can tap on the link which will take them to our verified WhatsApp line.  Please note that our support team will not collect any payment information, and may not receive payments on your behalf.  All payments must be made online.  The best they can do is offer support or direct the patron to a trusted resource, like their bank helpline, for further assistance.

Skybookings processes refunds upon approval by client.  To avoid money-laundering, refunds are only processed to the payment method used to buy the ticket.  Please note that Skybookings fees and PSP fees are non-refundable. In other words, the full ticket amount may be refunded to the patron upon approval, but the fees will still apply to the event organiser.

Because we pay out ticket sales every week, we stand at a high reputational and administrative risk if event planners abandon or cancel an event. For this reason, cancellations result in the immediate deactivation of the event planner’s account.  All funds are frozen and only refunds will be processed for 21 business days after the cancellation is announced. Thereafter, the remaining funds are paid to the event planner.  More information is available in our service level policy
