I am excited to announce the Founder’s Club, an innovative way of growing with skybookings. As a member, you will be entitled to a share of 10% share of our revenue, paid as a royalty to you every three months.
Before I share more details, here’s the problem we are trying to solve.
We now forecast R5.2 million in revenue over the next six months. This is impressive growth considering that we started from zero and grew by word of mouth. However, this is only the beginning. We are competing in a R7 billion market against Shoprite Computicket, Pick n Pay Webtickets and Quicket, all of whom have deep pockets.
Our goal is to achieve R500 million in gross ticket sales by the end of 2026, which would translate to R25 million in annual revenue. But to achieve this, we need your help. We need to build a warchest.
The Founder’s Club
There are two traditional ways to raise money for a business: borrowing or selling shares. We are not yet eligible to borrow because our revenue is not yet predictable. On the other hand, it is still too early to sell shares because we have yet to realise our equity value. So, we thought about an alternative path.
More and more startup businesses crowd-source their funding from customers, friends, and fans. We think this is the way to go, which brings us to the Founder’s Club. We are issuing 1,000 tokens (think about Pokémon collector’s cards). You can buy as many tokens as you like for a subscription of R1,000 per annum. Then, every three months, we will pay out 10% of our revenue to token holders.
For example, let’s say you acquire 100 tokens for 100,000 today. If we generate R10 million in quarterly revenue, R1,000,000 will be shared among token holders. If you hold 100 tokens, you will be entitled to R100,000 in royalty distributions that quarter. The same will apply every three months in perpetuity.
In the short term, the royalty distributions may be nominal. However, your investment will become increasingly handsome the closer we get to R500 million in revenue by the end of 2026.
Beyond a return on investment, your participation will signal your support and faith in the skybookings journey.
