Joburg Fashion Week, 2018
Originally launched in 2016 as a basic booking form for a restaurant, skybookings has evolved organically to the ecosystem it is today.
Skybookings built a strong foundation in hospitality, graduations, and RSVP-type events in the early days, facilitating bookings for Joburg Fasion Week, Gauteng Cricket, and many others.
As the platform matured and events returned post-pandemic, one challenge became impossible to ignore: cash flow. Ticketing platforms withhold funds until after events to manage refunds and cancellations. At skybookings, we took a different approach. We pay out ticket sales every Wednesday — what has become known as Wednesdays are Paydays — or whenever our curators require funds.
This makes events more accessible to curators, and gives them the creative freedom to build magical experiences.
At its core skybookings.com allows curators to list events, sell ticktes online and manage guests logistics.
Skybookings Capital provides access to funding designed around the realities of events and cashflow.
The Curators School, which is launching soon, is a space where curators develop the skills, judgment, network to grow sustainable properties.
Together, these three components respond to a simple belief: our lives are better and more meaningful when we come together to make magic.

South Africa has been rated the friendliest country in the world several times. In addition, we have the most beautiful sites and a rich and complex history, accompanied with an excellent climate. Therefore, we have a significant tourism opportunity.
At skybookings, we see events as a gateway to tourism and intend to build an ecosystem that supports event curators, centred around three pillars: technology, funding, and community.
Our mission, therefore, is to contribute towards sharing the magic of South Africa domestically and internationally by backing the most magical events — one at a time.
At skybookings we believe there is a difference between event promoters and curators. While promoters enjoy scale and seek efficient retail facilities, curators focus more on the intricacies of their patrons’ touch points beyond merely selling tickets. They require robust tools to orchestrate these touch points and create a magical experience.
Our solutions and outlook are therefore more built to serve curators. With a comprehensive guest logistics platform, excellent customer support for both curators and their patrons, funding to grow promising events, and a thriving community of curators who help one another grow, skybookings is not a ticketing company — it is an ecosystem, built around the needs of curators at every stage of their journey.
We serve curators with a long-term view of events, who build communities, and seek to influence culture in some magical way.
Vusi Sindane, Founder
I believe the next chapter of South African events will be led by curators who combine creativity with operational discipline — who own their audiences, manage risk intelligently, and build portfolios of experiences rather than single events.
Our role is to support that shift by providing an operating system, capital, and the knowledge required to run sustainable events in an increasingly complex marketplace.
At its core, skybookings is an ecosystem that enables people to come together and enjoy the magic of shared experiences — repeatedly, reliably, and with purpose.
By strengthening the foundations behind events, we help curators focus on what they do best: making magic.
