Enhancements: Ask patrons to pay anything

I am excited to share a few enhancements on skybookings, which add to our mission of making it easier to sell tickets while reducing admin.

Patrons Can Now Pay Anything

Skybookings now allows you to set up variable pricing for each ticket. Variable pricing means patrons can pay anything they want for a ticket. This is excellent for collecting donations that suit a patron’s pocket.

But there’s more. Many curators organise free events and depend on food and beverage sales at the venue to cover costs. With variable pricing, your patrons can contribute what they can. More than enhancing cash flow, this allows your super fans to shine through and make themselves known.

Improved automated communications

Communication is critical when organising events. However, it can get tedious. So, we enhanced the automated notifications section. Now you can disable automatic notifications. For instance, if you do not want your patrons to receive a notification when their booking is pending, you can simply disable that message.

We also added a notification for “abandoned carts” — this is when patrons initiate a payment but do not complete it. Now you can customise and personalise the message patrons get when they do not complete a payment after a certain amount of time. This is a great way to improve sales without following with each individual.

Finally, reminders (or aide memoirs) are now active as well. This means you can set skybookings to automatically dispatch personalised messages to your patrons a few days before and/or after your event. Whether it’s a thank you message or information needed at the event, like parking instructions or directions, set that info once and let skybookings do the rest.

You will also notice many smaller enhancements on the platform, but I will leave those to you to discover. I am super excited about what is to come, both technically on the platform and in the partnerships we have secured.

2024 was about building and stabilising the platform. 2025 shifts gears towards corporatising the business with partnerships and collaborations, while delivering unique capabilities on the platform.
